Ever since I started making sourdough garlic bread, it’s become the thing I’m asked to bring to every family gathering—birthday dinners, holidays, you name it. 🧄🥖

And honestly? I don’t mind one bit.

It’s crusty, buttery, perfectly garlicky… everything you want garlic bread to be. The tang from the sourdough adds something extra that store-bought bread just can’t match.

I’ve got my method down pat—fresh sourdough, a simple mix of butter, olive oil, minced garlic, and a few seasonings—baked until golden and crisp on the edges, soft in the middle.

It’s one of those side dishes that totally steals the show.

Sourdough Garlic Bread

Crusty, garlicky, and buttery, it’s the perfect appetizer or side dish for every meal!


To help you get the best results, here are some ingredients and tools I recommend:

  • Food Scale - Measuring by weight is the easiest way to get consistent results every time.
  • Banneton - Helps support your sourdough during its final rise and gives it that classic shape.
  • Straight-Sided Proofing Container - Makes it easy to monitor your dough's rise and bulk fermentation.
  • Aluminum Baking Pan - For even heat distribution and more even baking.
  • Bread Knife - To easily cut through a crusty loaf.
