πŸŽ„πŸ½οΈ 5 Must-Try Sourdough Sides for Your Holiday Dinner!

Hey Reader,

What do you usually cook for Christmas dinner? πŸŽ„πŸ½οΈ

My fiancé and I are part Italian, so I love making Italian dishes for the holidays. I usually whip up a big pot of red sauce for baked ziti, lasagna, and meatballs. 🍝

Last year, I started making my homemade lasagna with sourdough pasta and using sourdough breadcrumbs for the meatballs. It was so good! I’m also looking forward to making some sourdough side dishes for our Christmas dinners again this year.

Today, I want to share some of my favorite recipes with you so you can make your holiday meals extra special, too!

I hope you give them a try and let me know what you think! 😊

P.S. - Reply to this email and let me know! Will you include sourdough in your holiday meals this year? πŸ₯–

Sourdough Focaccia

Perfect for the holidays, this light and crispy focaccia bread is customizable and sure to impress your dinner guests.

Sourdough Garlic Breadsticks

Buttery and garlicky, these soft breadsticks pair perfectly with an Italian Christmas feast.

Sourdough Dinner Rolls

Soft and fluffy dinner rolls made with a bit of wheat flour and honey for a nutty, lightly-sweetened flavor.

Sourdough Bread Stuffing

Pair this classic sage stuffing with roasted turkey or chicken.

Sourdough Biscuits

Serve with gravy for a rich and buttery side dish that's hearty enough for even the biggest appetites.

To help you get the best results, here are some ingredients and tools I recommend:

  • Cast Iron Skillet - I love baking biscuits and dinner rolls in a cast iron skillet, as it cooks them evenly and makes for a lovely presentation.
  • Aluminum Baking Dish - I recommend using an aluminum baking dish for your focaccia. It conducts heat effectively, ensuring a fluffy texture and a crispy crust all around.
  • Kitchen Scale - For the best results with my recipes and fewer dishes to wash, I highly recommend getting a kitchen scale.

Hey Reader, It’s the final countdown to Christmas! πŸŽ„πŸŽ… This year, I'm celebrating across three days. And of course, sourdough will be a part of each one. On the Saturday before Christmas, we're having Italian food with my dad, and I’m bringing sourdough garlic bread to share. Christmas Eve is at my mom’s house, where I’m making meatballs with sourdough breadcrumbs. And for Christmas Day brunch with my fiancé’s family, I’m planning a loaf of sourdough bread for avocado toast. So simple and...

Hey Reader, The holidays are in full swing at my house! πŸŽ„βœ¨ My fiancΓ© and I have been busy - from Friendsgiving and Thanksgiving to picking out our tree, and now planning a Christmas craft night. 🎨 I've also been baking up a storm this year, testing new sourdough cookie recipes just for Christmas! πŸͺπŸŽ… While I already had some staples on the blog (like my sourdough chocolate chip cookies), I wanted to give some classic Christmas cookies a sourdough twist. And try a few unique ones, too. In the...

Hey Reader, Thanksgiving week is officially here! πŸ¦ƒπŸ€— If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I made a big batch of chicken stock last week in preparation for the holidays. I love using homemade ingredients, and having chicken stock in my freezer at all times is a must for me. Another essential I like to keep on hand this time of year is homemade pie crust. It tastes so much better than store-bought that I can’t imagine going without it. Recently, I made some tweaks to my...
