🍕 Sourdough Discard Pizza Dough + Whole Wheat Version!

The Sourdough Slice

Serving sourdough recipes, stories, and inspiration every Saturday morning.

Hey Reader,

Pizza is one of my favorite takeout meals to make at home - especially when I use sourdough pizza dough. 🍕

Not only does sourdough make it so much more delicious, but making it yourself gives you the freedom to get creative and customize it however you like.

I have two sourdough pizza dough recipes on my blog - one made with bread flour and the other with whole wheat. Both are made with sourdough discard and are perfect for an at-home pizza night!

I’ve also shared three fun ways to make pizza with sourdough:

  • A focaccia pizza (think pan pizza)
  • A cast iron skillet pizza inspired by Chicago deep dish pizza
  • A grilled pizza that's perfect for summer

If you haven’t tried any of my sourdough pizza recipes yet, I’d definitely recommend giving them a go next pizza night!

P.S. If you love my recipes, would you mind pinning them to your recipe board on Pinterest? It helps more people find them - and bake sourdough, too! 💛

To help you get the best results, here are some ingredients and tools I recommend:

  • Food Scale - Weighing ingredients ensures your recipes turn out just right every time.
  • Lodge Cast Iron Skillet - Great for making deep-dish style or pan pizza with a crispy, golden crust.
  • Aluminum Baking Pan - Perfect for making focaccia pizza. The aluminum helps the dough bake through while giving it a crispy, golden brown bottom.
  • Pizza Stone - The best tool for achieving that crispy, restaurant-quality pizza crust at home. Preheat it in the oven for the best results.

The Sourdough Slice Serving sourdough recipes, stories, and inspiration every Saturday morning. Hey Reader, It’s finally starting to feel like spring here. My backyard is full of dandelions and violets, and I’m not mad about it one bit. I've been spending more time outside lately, potting up seedlings and getting my garden ready. They’re looking happy so far! Just a few more weeks until they’re ready to go in the ground. 🌱🌸 And with spring in full swing, that also means Mother's Day is right...

The Sourdough Slice Serving sourdough recipes, stories, and inspiration every Saturday morning. Hey Reader, It might seem a bit early to talk about summer, but it’ll be here before we know it! I’ve already started some seeds for my garden, including cucumbers, garlic, and dill - three staples I grow every year to make my own pickles. 🥒🧄🌿 As I was thinking about my garden, I started imagining sourdough bread inclusions for the warmer season. Dill pickle sourdough bread immediately came to...
