🌰🍞 Cranberry Walnut Sourdough Bread & My Garlic Planting Adventures

Hey Reader,

If you follow me on Instagram, you might have seen my stories about planting 82 garlic cloves last weekend. πŸ§„ This year was especially exciting because I got to replant some of the garlic I harvested in July (which I planted last October). Yay for being self-sufficient and saving money!

After replanting part of my garlic harvest, I still had over 60 heads left. While it will store for a few months, I’ve been finding creative ways to use it - like roasting and adding it to sourdough bread (let me know if you want that recipe on the blog!).

That got me thinking about my other favorite sourdough mix-ins. With fall here, I’m excited to share my cranberry walnut sourdough recipe this week. πŸ‚πŸŒ°

This hearty sourdough bread is packed with toasted walnuts and chewy dried cranberries, making it perfect for breakfast or a sandwich piled high with Thanksgiving leftovers.

Give it a try and let me know what you think! 😊

P.S. - Reply to this email and let me know! What's your favorite sourdough bread mix-in?

Cranberry Walnut Sourdough Bread

Its crunchy, hearty texture and lightly sweet, nutty flavor make it the perfect loaf for fall.

To help you get the best results, here are some ingredients and tools I recommend:

  • Ocean Spray Craisins - Based in Massachusetts (like me!), Ocean Spray Craisins are my favorite dried cranberries.
  • Lodge 6-Quart Dutch Oven - I love my lilac-colored Dutch oven from Lodge; it makes my sourdough loaves turn out beautiful every time.
  • Banneton Proofing Basket - I use this Bread Boss 9-inch proofing basket, which gives my loaves a nice pattern when I don’t use the liner. It also comes with a free bowl scraper!
  • Kitchen Scale - For the best results with my recipes and fewer dishes to wash, I highly recommend getting a kitchen scale.
  • Lame - For easy bread scoring.

Hey Reader, It’s the final countdown to Christmas! πŸŽ„πŸŽ… This year, I'm celebrating across three days. And of course, sourdough will be a part of each one. On the Saturday before Christmas, we're having Italian food with my dad, and I’m bringing sourdough garlic bread to share. Christmas Eve is at my mom’s house, where I’m making meatballs with sourdough breadcrumbs. And for Christmas Day brunch with my fiancé’s family, I’m planning a loaf of sourdough bread for avocado toast. So simple and...

Hey Reader, What do you usually cook for Christmas dinner? πŸŽ„πŸ½οΈ My fiancΓ© and I are part Italian, so I love making Italian dishes for the holidays. I usually whip up a big pot of red sauce for baked ziti, lasagna, and meatballs. 🍝 Last year, I started making my homemade lasagna with sourdough pasta and using sourdough breadcrumbs for the meatballs. It was so good! I’m also looking forward to making some sourdough side dishes for our Christmas dinners again this year. Today, I want to share...

Hey Reader, The holidays are in full swing at my house! πŸŽ„βœ¨ My fiancΓ© and I have been busy - from Friendsgiving and Thanksgiving to picking out our tree, and now planning a Christmas craft night. 🎨 I've also been baking up a storm this year, testing new sourdough cookie recipes just for Christmas! πŸͺπŸŽ… While I already had some staples on the blog (like my sourdough chocolate chip cookies), I wanted to give some classic Christmas cookies a sourdough twist. And try a few unique ones, too. In the...
