Hey Reader,
I know I probably sound like a broken record at this point… but your sourdough girl is officially ready for warmer days over here. 😅
This past week it felt like winter looked at me and said, “Oh, you think you’ve got this? That’s cute.”
I got caught in a snowstorm driving home from my sister’s baby shower, my furnace broke on a literal 0°F day, it dramatically backfired while being fixed (everyone’s okay, thankfully!), and one of my chickens somehow managed to wedge herself into a snowy spot that required a mini rescue mission.
But regardless, the baby shower was a lovely success. It was so special celebrating my sister and my soon-to-be niece with everyone there. 🎀🩷
And because I cope with life by baking, I ran a fun little experiment twice this week: starting sourdough in a cold Dutch oven vs. a preheated one. I shared my results over on Instagram (spoiler: preheated still wins in my kitchen).
Speaking of Instagram, I shared a reel last week showing how to make a full loaf of sourdough in just one day — about 10.5 hours total for me, from feeding my starter in the morning to pulling the bread out of the oven that night. It took off more than I expected, so I turned it into a full blog post… and now I’m sharing it with you today.
It’s perfect for those days when you want fresh sourdough without the usual two-day timeline. I hope you give it a try and love it as much as I do! 🍞⏰
