Hey Reader,

How are you adjusting to daylight savings? ☀️

I'm loving the extra sunlight at the end of the day. But as a morning person, the later sunrises are definitely making it harder to get out of bed.

That said, I'm thrilled we had a few days that truly felt like spring here this week! I took the opportunity to go for a short walk outside for the first time in months.

I didn’t get a ton of baking done, but I did manage to retest and update my sourdough cheese cracker recipe. I’m also baking a few loaves of bread today that I’m planning to trade with my cousin for some of his firewood.

Going to have my first fire in the fireplace this weekend. I’ll keep you posted on how that goes!

With the warmer weather starting to peek through, I thought it would be fun to share a few sourdough loaves that feel like spring to me.

  • Dutch Oven - Creates steam while baking so you get a beautiful rise and crust.
  • Straight-Sided Containers - Easier to track bulk fermentation.
  • Bread Sling - Helps you safely transfer dough into a hot Dutch oven.
  • Lame - Gives you control and confidence when scoring your dough for an even rise.
  • Proofer - Allows you to control the proofing temperature to better predict bulk fermentation timing.
