🐣 5 Easy Sourdough Sweets for Easter

The Sourdough Slice

Serving sourdough recipes, stories, and inspiration every Saturday morning.

Hey Reader,

Did you bake anything this week?

My week was full of sourdough, as it always is. I started things off by making four mini loaves and some bread oil dip mixes for a baby shower, which was a lot of fun!

I also did a little experiment where I baked two identical loaves — the only difference was that one had ice in the Dutch oven and the other didn’t. The difference wasn’t as dramatic as I expected, but the loaf baked with ice definitely had a more blistery, crusty exterior. So I’d say it’s still worth it.

Last weekend, I went antiquing with a few friends and found the cutest little vintage one-cup Pyrex measuring cup from the 1950s. I was so excited! I’ve been trying to collect more of the original Pyrex pieces for my kitchen since they’re made from borosilicate glass instead of tempered glass.

And I think it’s safe to say spring is officially here. My 20 hens are laying about 15 eggs a day right now. It’s been a little hard to keep up, but I’m certainly not complaining!

With Easter just around the corner (next weekend!), I figured it was the perfect excuse to make something a little sweet. So today, I’m sharing a few easy sourdough desserts you can serve for brunch or dinner.

I hope you find one you love and enjoy! 🐰🐣

P.S. Remember that sourdough bunny loaf I mentioned? I posted a quick reel showing exactly how to shape it if you want to give it a try.

To help you get the best results, here are some ingredients and tools I recommend:

  • Food Scale - Measuring by weight is the easiest way to get consistent results every time.
  • Dutch Oven - Creates steam while baking so you get a beautiful rise and crust.
  • Straight-Sided Containers - Easier to track bulk fermentation.
  • Bread Sling - Helps you safely transfer dough into a hot Dutch oven.
  • Lame - Gives you control and confidence when scoring your dough for an even rise.
  • Proofer - Allows you to control the proofing temperature to better predict bulk fermentation timing.

The Sourdough Slice Serving sourdough recipes, stories, and inspiration every Saturday morning. Hey Reader, What’s the most unique inclusion you’ve ever added to a sourdough loaf? This week, I made a French onion soup sourdough bread and it might truly be one of the most flavorful loaves I’ve ever made. My neighbors, my dad, and I all couldn’t get over how much it tasted exactly like a bowl of French onion soup. Outside of sourdough experiments, I also learned how to mow my own grass for the...

The Sourdough Slice Serving sourdough recipes, stories, and inspiration every Saturday morning. Hey Reader, Have you ever tried baking sourdough dough straight from frozen? ❄️🍞 A friend asked me that last week, and I realized I’d never actually tried it myself. So of course, I had to test it out right away. And I was so surprised by how well it actually worked! I shaped the dough, let it sit out for a bit to proof, then froze it overnight. The next morning, I baked it straight from frozen in...
