What do you usually do with an overproofed sourdough loaf?

This week, I accidentally let one of mine go a little too long and, while it still tasted great, it came out a bit flat. So I took the opportunity to turn it into sourdough croutons.

I’ve also been having a lot of fun lately playing around with some more unique sourdough inclusions. This week I added ramen noodle soup to a loaf (I know, a little unconventional 😅), but it actually turned out so good. I even mixed in some fresh chives from my garden.

Other than that, I’m still over here completely obsessed with my new niece. Baby snuggles really are the best. 🥰

And speaking of new things, I’ve been adding quite a few new sourdough inclusion recipes to the blog lately (with more on the way!).

So today, I’m sharing some of those with you. I hope you find one you love and give it a try!

Blueberry Cream Cheese

Naturally sweet and tastes like blueberry cheesecake!

Carrot Cake

Shredded carrots, raisins, pecans, and a swirl of brown sugar and warm spices.

Basil Pesto

Savory, herby, and garlicky, it's the perfect base for sandwiches.

Coffee (with Milk + Sugar)

Lightly sweet with a hint of coffee, it's perfect toasted for breakfast.

Root Beer

Inspired by beer bread, it's non-alcoholic and has a subtle root beer flavor.


To help you get the best results, here are some ingredients and tools I recommend:

  • Food Scale - Measuring by weight is the easiest way to get consistent results every time.
  • Dutch Oven - Creates steam while baking so you get a beautiful rise and crust.
  • Straight-Sided Containers - Easier to track bulk fermentation.
  • Bread Sling - Helps you safely transfer dough into a hot Dutch oven.
  • Lame - Gives you control and confidence when scoring your dough for an even rise.
  • Proofer - Allows you to control the proofing temperature to better predict bulk fermentation timing.
