Hey Reader,

Happy April and Happy Easter weekend to those who celebrate! 🐣🌷

And thank you so much to everyone who wished me a happy birthday on Thursday — you truly made my day feel extra special.

This week has been such a special one in so many ways. Not only was it my birthday, but my sister had her baby on Monday (two weeks early!), which means I officially became Auntie Ashley to my sweet, beautiful niece. I’m already so obsessed!

With all the celebrating this week, I kept thinking about how nice it is to have something homemade to share with the people around you. 💛

So this week, I’m sharing five of my favorite sourdough focaccia recipes — sweet, savory, and perfect for any occasion.

P.S. Check out my Recipe eBooks + Resources page for printable sourdough recipes and guides! 📚📝🍞

To help you get the best results, here are some ingredients and tools I recommend:

  • Food Scale - Measuring by weight is the easiest way to get consistent results every time.
  • Dutch Oven - Creates steam while baking so you get a beautiful rise and crust.
  • Straight-Sided Containers - Easier to track bulk fermentation.
  • Bread Sling - Helps you safely transfer dough into a hot Dutch oven.
  • Lame - Gives you control and confidence when scoring your dough for an even rise.
  • Proofer - Allows you to control the proofing temperature to better predict bulk fermentation timing.
  • Aluminum Baking Pan - Bakes focaccia evenly for a soft, fluffy interior with golden brown edges all around.

The Sourdough Slice Serving sourdough recipes, stories, and inspiration every Saturday morning. Hey Reader, Happy Mother’s Day! 🌸 Are you making anything with sourdough to celebrate? I’m keeping things simple over here and making a loaf of sourdough bread for avocado toast topped with fried fresh eggs straight from my chicken coop. Honestly, one of my favorite breakfasts. I’m also planning to spend a lot of time outside this weekend getting my garden ready since it’s almost time to plant...

The Sourdough Slice Serving sourdough recipes, stories, and inspiration every Saturday morning. Hey Reader, What’s the most unique inclusion you’ve ever added to a sourdough loaf? This week, I made a French onion soup sourdough bread and it might truly be one of the most flavorful loaves I’ve ever made. My neighbors, my dad, and I all couldn’t get over how much it tasted exactly like a bowl of French onion soup. Outside of sourdough experiments, I also learned how to mow my own grass for the...

The Sourdough Slice Serving sourdough recipes, stories, and inspiration every Saturday morning. Hey Reader, Have you ever tried baking sourdough dough straight from frozen? ❄️🍞 A friend asked me that last week, and I realized I’d never actually tried it myself. So of course, I had to test it out right away. And I was so surprised by how well it actually worked! I shaped the dough, let it sit out for a bit to proof, then froze it overnight. The next morning, I baked it straight from frozen in...
