Hey Reader,
Do you bake bread to sell, or mostly just for fun and for your family to enjoy?
I mostly bake for the blog, but lately I've been getting more requests from friends and neighbors to bake loaves for them. While I don't think I'd ever want it to become a full-time thing, it's been a lot of fun. I love seeing their faces light up when I hand them a fresh loaf.
This week, one of my neighbors asked for a parmesan rosemary loaf and a jalapeño cheddar loaf. I even used some of the peppers from her garden in the jalapeño cheddar, and let's just say... they were spicy!
I also got to spend some time with my niece, celebrate my sister's birthday, and buy myself a few more plants for my perennial garden (I really can't be stopped).
One thing I'm especially excited about this week is my new cookie scoop. Such a small thing, I know, but I always told myself I didn't need one. Now that I finally have one, though, it's so satisfying seeing all those perfectly sized little scoops lined up on a baking sheet. And with fall and holiday baking season getting closer, I have a feeling it's going to get plenty of use!
Speaking of fall baking and cooler weather, one of my favorite meals this time of year is a big bowl of chili with cornbread on the side.
So today, I'm sharing both my sourdough cornbread and sourdough corn muffin recipes for you to enjoy with your favorite chili.
I hope you give them a try and enjoy! ☺️
